The Daily Maintenance of 11kV 3 phase 200 kVA distribution transformers


1. Power transformers often encounter issues during operation, such as oil leakage, fluctuating oil levels, abnormal temperatures, unusual sounds, and anomalies in the cooling system. Attempt to identify the causes, rectify them, and maintain proper records.

2. When the load on the power transformer exceeds the allowable normal overload value, reduce the transformer's load as necessary to prevent safety incidents.

3. In case of the following conditions, immediately disconnect the power supply to the transformer for maintenance: loud noises from within the transformer, discharge sounds, abnormal heating, fuel injection from the oil tank or safety vent, oil levels dropping to the limit indicated by the oil gauge, rapid changes in oil color, and severe damage to insulators.

4. When the power transformer's oil temperature is found to be high and corresponds to a significant decrease in oil level, refill it promptly following the prescribed procedures. If a significant oil leak causes a rapid drop in oil level, change the gas protection to only affect signaling, take immediate measures to plug the oil leak, and refill the transformer. When the transformer's oil level gradually rises due to an increase in temperature, and if the oil level at the highest temperature may exceed the oil level indicator, reduce the oil level to an appropriate level to avoid overflow.

5. For the routine maintenance of dry-type transformers, if the power can be disconnected, check for loose fasteners, and wipe off any dust. Major maintenance for medium and large transformers primarily involves measuring insulation resistance, such as high and low voltage ground resistance.
